BACHELOR IN MULTIMEDIA (BM)
(FOUR YEAR DEGREE COURSE)

In this era of media; advertisements, animations and graphics are playing key roles. Almost all television channels, film industry and other media units are using the multimedia for increasing its viewer base. The education industry is using the multimedia for imparting innovative training. Various business houses are also using multimedia for the promotion of their products. So when there is a huge demand for trained multimedia professionals, there are only few recognized courses offered by various universities and some private players to produce these professionals, which is certainly not enough. In order to meet the requirements of the industry, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar has introduced a four year degree course in Bachelor in Multimedia. The course has been started with the objective to impart training in various aspects of multimedia, to meet the need of the fast growing Multimedia Industry.
 
Course Content
The course mainly focuses on the computer based techniques of Designing and Animation. So the course contents are the mixture of Fine Arts, Design and Computers. The course covers basics of computers, study of drawing & colour, art appreciation, 2D & 3D animations, media, audio-video editing, advertisements, development of computer based games, film appreciation, printing techniques, performing arts etc. There will be industrial training and project during the last two semesters.
Eligibility
10+2 with minimum 45 percent marks.

The department of Multimedia is housed in the Design & Technology Complex with state-of-the-art Electronic Lab, Computer Labs, Photography Lab and Studio, Video & Audio Production Studio and Workshops, Seminar Room & Open Air Theatre. The college is equipped with learning facilitators & gadgets ranging from Overhead Projectors, Slide Projectors, Xerox Machine, TV, VCR & Audio Players, Multimedia Projector and Multimedia CD ROMs. In order to meet the demands of Computer & IT related courses, the college has a TECHNO CENTRE with six state-of-the-art computer labs which have around 160 terminals connected through LAN with Internet facility and latest printers, scanners, configurations to meet the needs of the students. The internet is available in all the college labs and departments.

CENTRAL COMPUTING FACILITY-The college offers central computing facility to the faculty and the students with twenty four hour internet facility, to collect teaching learning resource.

The college offers a well-equipped multi storeyed high-tech, fully computerized MAHATMA HANS RAJ LIBRARY, which has over 60,000 books and subscribes to 200 journals, 16 newspapers and 60 popular magazines. Internet facility is also available in the Library. The college also has a CD Library. Multimedia also has a rich department library and Resource Centre.
