Department of Punjabi of BBK DAV College for Women organized an inspiring lecture on the revolutionary Punjabi poet Paash. Dr. Parminder Singh, Former Head, Department of English, Guru Nanak Dev University was the key speaker for the event.
In her welcome address, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that such literary lectures give us an opportunity to have a look at our rich culture and literature and inspire us with a new awakening.
Addressing the students Dr. Parminder Singh said that Paash was a pioneer in questioning the authoritative and undemocratic setup of Indian political system. His poems give an insight into revolutionary thought process, cultural phenomenon and economical inequality of Punjabi society. He told the audience that due to his naxalite ideology, Paash had to spend a long time of his life in jail.
Sh. Sudershan Kapoor, Chairman, Local Managing Committee gave a vote of thanks to the guests and audience for sparing their time. Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Head, Department of Punjabi, along with Dr. Rani and other faculty members, attended the programme.
