Department of Economics, BBK DAV College for Women, organized a guest lecture on ‘Structural Changes in Indian Economy in Pre and Post Globalised Era’. Dr. Kuldeep Kaur, Professor, Punjab School of Economics, GNDU was the resource person for the lecture.
In her lecture she emphasised on the need and planning of Five Year Plans for the growth of Indian economy. She highlighted the imbalanced occupational structure of Indian economy and said that balanced growth is required for the long term economic development. In her lecture she stressed on the jobless growth which is creating imbalanced demand structure in Indian economy. She also narrated the history of globalisation by highlighting the LPG and PURA models.
Mrs. Poonam Kohli, Head, Department of Economics, concluded the session by saying that there is a dire need for diversified growth of the economy and stressed on the faster growth of agriculture and industry sector.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia thanked Dr. Kuldeep Kaur for sparing her valuable time as such discussions provide hands on training to the students about the industry.
