Swami Dayanand Study Center and Arya Yuvti Sabha of BBK DAV College for Women celebrated 193rd birth anniversary of Maharishi Swami Dayanand Saraswati and International Mother Tongue Day by organizing lectures ‘Multifaceted Personality of Swami Dayanand Saraswati’ and ‘Importance of Mother Tongue’. Dr. Madhu Sandhu, Former Head and Prof., Department of Hindi, Guru Nanak Dev University was the resource person.
While delivering a lecture ‘Multifaceted Personality of Swami Dayanand Saraswati’, Dr. Madhu Sandhu said that Maharishi Swami Dayanand Saraswati was a great religious leader, the founder of Arya Samaj, a renowned scholar, a social reformer and a nationalist. She further said that Swami Dayanand emphasized the provision of equal rights to women and advocated the education of children regardless of gender. In her lecture on the importance of using mother tongue, she said that mother tongue plays an important role in shaping an individual’s personality. She added that mother tongue helps us to remain rooted in our culture and tradition.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcomed the guests and said that Swami Dayanand played a major role in the reforming Indian society with his visionary and scientific ideology. She further said that the best way to pay tribute to Swami ji is to follow the path shown by him.
Prof. Anita Narendra, Head, Department of Hindi, Prof. Shelly Jaggi, Prof. Renu Vashisht, Prof. Anu Khanna, along with other faculty members and students, were present on the occasion.
